Private PDF to Markdown Conversion
Convert Documents Without Cloud Uploads
Moving documentation, specifications, or reports from PDF to Markdown is a tedious task for developers. Most online converters upload your PDFs to their cloud servers, posing security risks for internal specs or proprietary documents. MDDiet parses selectable text in PDFs and applies layout-aware structure heuristics directly in your browser, generating standard Markdown with headings, lists, code blocks, and simple tables locally.
Transform PDFs to Markdown
- Step 1: Select or drop your PDF document.
- Step 2: Watch as the browser's PDF engine extracts text blocks page-by-page.
- Step 3: Our layout rules classify headings, lists, tables, and code snippets.
- Step 4: Copy the Markdown text or download it as a .md file.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can MDDiet process scanned PDFs or images?
A: No. MDDiet v1 extracts selectable text from PDFs. Scanned PDFs containing only images require OCR (Optical Character Recognition), which is not supported in this lightweight release.
Q: How accurate is the structure layout?
A: MDDiet uses height and alignment heuristics to identify headings, tables, and code blocks. While not a 1:1 perfect PDF page reconstruction, it provides a clean Markdown draft ready for developer use.
